"Holly, you are literally the worst story teller!" - G x
Kia Ora! Welcome to my TA blog. I'm Holly, a runaway Brit currently living in the Far North of New Zealand. I’m hoping to walk Te Araroa this year, my 26th year on Earth, kicking it off at the end of October! I'm in NZ on a working-holiday visa, I left my job back in April so I'm on a super tight budget for this adventure... We'll see how I get on!
The last time I hiked with a pack- I guess the trip from airport to hostel doesn't count? So that'll be a day hike on a field trip at university back in 2017.
The last time I camped- 2011 as part of my Gold Duke of Edinburgh (such a brit).
The last time I ran 5km- May 2020, a wee COVID run.*
As you can see, I'm going to breeze this walk!
This blog is to keep my friends and whānau up to date, my mum's nerves at ease and to add another totally under-qualified voice to the internet. I'm going to try to make this an honest account of the trail this coming season, including the good and the bad and the ugly. Providing information for those that know me and for those interested in hiking the trail in the future.
*All true as of September 2020.
